Red Bull 105 / HB-ZHS in Toronto

Our RB105 is already in Toronto where it will be dissasembled for the flight on board a Cargolux Boeing 747 to Luxembourg. Giovanni and Sascha are taking care of our Lady to make her ready for the Atlantic Crossing back home.

Windsor Airrace

After a successfull Airrace in Windsor we prepare for the transport to Europe. All our equipment is ready in our Air Race Hangar for the transport back to our Home Base in Zurich. Our team (Bas, Giovanni, Jürg, Kari, Marco, Peter, Ricci and Sascha) made a great job for an amazing race which was won by Paul Bonhomme, second was Hannes Arch and third was Kirby Chambliss. Now we are heading for Europe......

skymedia Team arrived in Windsor, Canada

The skymedia Team (Giovanni Barria, Marco Biner, Jürg Fleischmann, Sascha Fleischmann, Kari Kofel, Peter Nydegger, Richi Perret and Bas van den Branden) arrived in the last days in Windsor, Canada, for the next Airrace on June 13^th and June 14^th. Yesterday we flew in with our Helicopter Red Bull 105 / HB-ZHS via the Niagara Falls. All cameras are ready for another great Race………….

Red Bull 105 visits Niagara Helicopter

Today Red Bull 105 / HB-ZHS visited the Heliport from Niagara Helicopters close to the famous Falls. The company is owned by Rudi Haven, a native Swiss guy, and also the Chiefpilot, Rene Hussy, was born in Switzerland. The whole team from Niagara Helicopters gave us a very warm welcome, great job you all do and thank you very much for the hospitality. It was the first time that a Swiss registered Helicopter landed at their Helipad. If you are at the Niagara Falls, it is a must to fly with the Team of Niagara Helicopters, it is an amazing experience and the only way to see the Falls in full………….. It was an honour to overfly the Niagara Falls with our own Swiss Helicopter……….., no comments, just enjoy it……….. ;-)) The crew, Bas van den Branden, Sascha and Jürg Fleischmann, for sure enjoyed it……….

Another amazing place for Red Bull 105: due to the Airrace in Windsor, Ontario, we got the permission to overfly the Niagara Falls with our HB-ZHS, what a scenery….., today we will visit Niagara Helicopters close to the Falls, run by Rudi Haven, a native Swiss Pilot……….., check out the site in the next days………….

JÜRG FLEISCHMANN – RED BULL AIR RACE HELICOPTER PILOT

There is another pilot in the Red Bull Air Race whose name may not be familiar and who is rarely seen in front of the camera but who has a crucial role to play in the World Series competition. Jürg Fleischmann is the official helicopter pilot, flying the TV camera crew and photographers right up close to the action to ensure they capture the most spectacular images of the race.

The 45-year-old from Switzerland is an accomplished pilot with an impressive résumé in flying. He has clocked up over 11,500 flight hours on more than 100 different types of aircraft, spent 23 years in the Swiss Air Force, nine years as a commercial airline pilot and has his own airline company which has been running for 20 years.

He’s also had his fair share of glamour, working with big names in sport and show business. He was personal pilot for Formula 1 champions, Michael Schumacher and Kimi Räikkönen and has flown in several film productions with stars such as Harrison Ford.

Fleischmann was born in Zurich and now lives just north of the city in a small village. Fleischmann earned his private pilot’s license at the age of 17. In 1987 he was flying as a helicopter pilot for the Swiss Air Rescue Service. During periods when he wasn’t flying, he embarked on a project to form his own company – Lions Air - which started life as an aerial photography and filming operation and which has evolved into a world wide specialized aviation company with more then a dozen helicopters and six airplanes.
Sitting behind the controls of a Eurocopter B0105, Fleischmann is in the enviable position of having a bird’s eye view of the race. Unfortunately, however, he’s unable to just sit back and enjoy the action. It takes an immense amount of skill and precision to be able to fly so close to the track without disturbing the pilots and Fleischmann, who has been involved with the Red Bull Air Race since it started, is the perfect man for the job.

As well as being the official helicopter pilot, Fleischmann also works as Deputy Aviation Manager alongside Head of Aviation, Heinz Möller.

The personable Swissman is so passionate about flying that he spends much of his spare time in the air too but when he is on the ground he can be found mountain biking, playing football or relaxing at home with family and friends.

Fleischmann is looking forward into each new Airrace and helping to bring the competition to life on the page and screen.
